See the grey, well-lit building? One of my favouritest buildings in the whole downtown. The Johannesburg Public Library. In front of it, Library Gardens, and then the amber-lit building is City Hall. The library has a huge archive underneath those gardens. The colonists did some things right! The funny shaped building with the spike, back-centre, is in Diagonal Street. It's across the road from the old Johannesburg Stock Exchange, which is not visible, as it's 10 floors high. The JSE has since joined the white-flight to Sandton.
